Fr. Philip Johnson graduated from the United States Naval Academy with a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in History, complemented by an additional concentration in the French Language.
United States Navy
After graduating from the United States Naval Academy, Fr. Philip Johnson went on to have a fulfilling career in the United States Navy. For two years, he served as a Gunnery Officer. During his time there, he earned several Navy achievements. These include the Officer of the Deck (navigator) Qualification and the Surface Warfare Officer Qualification. During a Persian Gulf Deployment, he also managed a division of over twenty women and men.
During his time in the United States Navy, Fr. Philip Johnson earned several Naval Achievements and Personal Awards, including:

After serving as a Gunnery Officer, Fr. Philip Johnson received a promotion to Fire Control Officer. At his time in this role during a Persian Gulf deployment, he managed a division of thirty men and women.
Study Abroad in Paris, France
During his time at the United States Naval Academy, Fr. Philip Johnson had the exciting opportunity to partake in a study abroad program in Paris, France. Participating in this immersive experience enabled him to deepen his understanding and passion of the French language and culture.
While living in Paris, Fr. Johnson had the chance to improve his linguistic skills and gain a deep appreciation for French history and art. This time abroad was a transformative experience and paved the way for his career in Foreign Language Studies and work as a French Translator.
His time in one of the world’s most vibrant and historically rich cities gave him an exposure to diverse perspectives. The dynamic academic environment in Paris shaped both his academic and professional trajectory.
